Just two weeks after the release of iOS 9 beta 4, Apple has officially released the fifth iOS 9 beta for developers, which is also the third iOS 9 beta for public beta testers. The update, which is build number 13A4325c, can be downloaded via the Apple Developer Center or through an over-the-air update. 

The update is meant to address the issues many developers discovered in iOS 9 beta 4, as reported by BGR. These issues include a bug which disables the functionality of volume controls to be used as camera shutters, battery depletion, and forced reboots. 

The keyboard also sees a few tweaks, and Handoff functionality has been altered so that only installed apps will appear. A small change is the Wi-Fi animation: instead of the bars slowly disappearing, they instead fade to grey when the feature is turned off. 

Beta 5 introduces a few new features as well. A Wi-Fi calling option for AT&T subscribers has been included, as well as several new wallpapers. Siri's context awareness has been vastly improved and Apple Maps now has public transportation data integrated right into it. Multitasking features have also been added to iOS 9 beta 5.

It is unsure at this point if Apple will release further beta versions of iOS 9 as the report states that the company is planning to release the full version of the OS this fall. Given that it is already the first week of August, this means Apple will release iOS 9 by September or October of this year.

Releasing the full version by this fall strongly indicates that Apple will simultaneously launch iOS 9 with the rumored iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus — also rumored to be the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus — before the end of the year. Launching them together has been a system Apple has grown accustomed to as seen in the releases of iOS 7 and 8.
