iOS 9 jailbreak: Pangu version is out

Barely four months after iOS 9 was released, a jailbreak is already reportedly available. This does come a bit of a surprise, considering how some had a hard time jailbreaking the previous iOS 8 versions.

The Chinese hacker team of Pangu claims to have been behind the untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 9 which can reportedly work as well on subsequent versions such as the iOS 9.0, 9.0.1, and 9.0.2.

This means that folks who have the latest iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will also be covered, aside from previous iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices.

The thing is the jailbreak is only available for use on the Windows operating system (OS) with no official word yet on when the OS X Mac version will be out.

Word about the iOS jailbreaking tool came out last Wednesday when the Pangu team announced it via Twitter.

To those who are unaware, jailbreaking the Apple device temporarily lifts the limitations on them. This includes providing root access to the iOS file system and manager, paving the way for installation of additional apps and extensions which cannot be bound on the App Store.

Apple users who may decide to jailbreak their devices should, however, bear in mind that such violates Apple's End User License Agreement (EULA) and negates all warranties for the device.

However, all that can be restored when the user reverts the device to its factory settings.

Hence, it may be a good idea to back up your device first before embarking on the jailbreaking process. This is because users could encounter some issues or errors along the way which may go as far as corrupting data on the device; this means contacts, files, or apps may be eventually lost.

Again, using the jailbreak comes with risks so using it will be at the Apple device owner's discretion.

Pangu offers step-by-step instructions on how to use the iOS 9 untethered jailbreak on its website.
