Previous rumors have said that Apple is cancelling the iPad Air 3 since the slate remains unconfirmed. However, new speculations suggest that the company may have had no choice but to delay the roll-out a number of times but the device will still come out early next year.

Reportedly, the iPad Air 3 was supposed to come out late last year since Apple has been known to come out with a new iPad iteration almost annually. However, the Cupertino-based giant decided to release the iPad Pro instead. Rumors mentioned that the iPad Air 3's release has been bumped to early 2016.

However, in the March launch event, the iPad Pro lineup may have been given another priority, since instead of the awaited iPad Air 3, a 2016 edition of the iPad Pro was launched. The new iteration is a smaller version of the original 12.9-inch professional slate, and was even said to replace the still-unconfirmed iPad Mini 5.

While Apple is expected to come out with another late 2016 launch, the iPad Air 3 is not expected to come out, since the possible fall event is likely to focus on the new iPhone 7 and the new MacBooks. Allegedly, Apple has already pegged an early 2017 launch for the new iPad Air 3 instead.

Meanwhile, since the iPad Air 3 remains unconfirmed, only rumors on its specs are making their rounds online. However, it is already expected that the new iPad Air will feature massive improvements over its predecessor, and may also come out with an overhauled design and form factor. A new chipset, additional RAM and a sturdier construction due to new Apple tech are already anticipated should the iPad Air 3 launch next year.
