Apple enthusiasts have been waiting for the iPad Air 3 for nearly two years, given that the iPad Air 2 launched in 2014. No new iPad Air was released last year, and now, there are rumors suggesting that the iPad Air 3 will launch by the end of October if there is no delay.

According to Mobile N Apps, the device might launch as early as Oct. 27, although this is not guaranteed given that Apple has not made a single announcement about a new iPad rolling out anytime soon. Apple has yet to even confirm if they are having an event where the iPad Air 3 will be unveiled.

The report also points out that the iPad Air 3 might be launched this early so that it will not compete with the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, which is expected to have a new iteration next year. This smaller iPad Pro may be rebranded as the iPad Pro Mini, and it will be a combination of the iPad Pro and the supposed iPad Mini 5.

If the iPad Air 3 launches, it is expected to feature the A9X and a refined Apple Pen. It is also expected to feature customized panels that will allow it to seamlessly integrate with the Smart Keyboard Cover. The report also states that it might also come with an improved Retina Flash for its camera and a lighter, thinner body made from 7,000-series aluminum.

MacWorld reports that there is no substantial confirmation from Apple to further support the Oct. 27 release of the iPad Air 3, indicating it may be pushed to 2017. However, if it is pushed back, it will compete with the 9.7-inch iPad Pro and any iPhone 7 update that Apple has planned.

Because of this, fans speculate the iPad Air 3 will be permanently canceled, particularly since Apple has not given any update since late 2014.
