iPad Air 3 release date: Powerful and thinner tablet purposely withheld?

Apple seems to have forgotten something during last week's event, although it remains to be seen if such was done purposely or not.

This is with reference to that iPad Air 3 which curiously was not among the new set of devices that Apple brought out in the open. No reason was given on why such happened.

Of course, one reason could be Apple had already unveiled a couple of tablets with the iPad Mini 4 and the iPad Pro. So with two tablets already in the limelight, timing could be an essential reason why the iPad Air 3 did not make an appearance. However, rumors suggest that there is indeed an iPad Air 3 in the works, although it remains to be seen when exactly it would come out.

Seeing the iPad Air 3 make an appearance this year seems close to nil, considering that Apple doesn't have any more events lined up. Hence, the best bet is to see it in 2016, although it remains unclear on when that can actually take place.

For now, the only thing we can rely on is what to expect.

According to rumors, the iPad Air 3 will boast of a 9.7-inch screen and probably come out with the same A9X processor that the iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4 are already using.

About 2 GB to 4 GB of RAM could support the processor. There will also be three options for internal storage, namely 16 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB. It will reportedly have an 8-megapixel main camera and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera.

As far as device design is concerned, the said tablet will be thinner than the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. It will have a lighter battery to render the device's power storage needs, something that boasts of 7,340 mAh. According to reports, the device will also be waterproof.
