The iPad Air 3 has been noticeably absent for a while now, but that may soon be set to change.

According to sources spoken to by BuzzFeed News, Apple is set to unveil a variety of new products at an upcoming event slated for March 15, although the exact lineup remains unknown.

Even without confirmation, however, there are still rumors making the rounds suggesting that Apple will be using the March 15 event to finally unveil the newest version of the iPad Air.

Previously, the iPad Air 3 had been given a supposed release date that was well before March 15.

Looking back into last year, there were rumors suggesting that the new iPad Air would be showing up at its usual slot, which would have been September. That didn't happen, and instead, Apple chose to unveil the iPad Pro during that time of the year.

That has led to a great deal of confusion emerging in relation to the fate of the iPad Air 3, with some suggesting that the new tablet may not be released until September of this year and others even suggesting that it may not come out at all.

The good news for those looking for the iPad Air 3 is that it appears the new tablet will indeed be released soon and that it may even come with upgraded features, according to 9 to 5 Mac.

In addition to the iPad Air 3, Apple is also expected to use the March 15 event to launch other devices such as the iPhone 5se as well as some new Apple Watch band options.

One device that is currently not expected to make an appearance at the March 15 event is the Apple Watch 2. According to MacWorld UK, the new smartwatch may not make its debut until September of this year, meaning it could take up the iPad Air's usual slot on the Apple calendar.

In any case, more clarity regarding the fates of both the iPad Air 3 and the Apple Watch 2 will likely come into better focus during the March 15 event currently expected to take place at the Apple Town Hall in Cupertino, California.
