Apple fans were disappointed when they didn't see a new iPad Air launch alongside the iPad Pro and the iPad Mini 4. Meanwhile, although Apple has yet to confirm details about the iPad Air 3, speculations on how different the new tablet will be from its predecessors have already floated online.

According to Apple Insider, one of the things that would probably stay the same for the new iPad Air 3 is its display. When the iPad Pro and the new lineups of the iPhone 6 were released, fans expected Apple to start featuring 3D Touch for its flagship devices.

However, the industry follower came across investor's notes detailing predictions by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The analyst reportedly stated that factors in the supply of components for the next iPad Air prevented the 3D Touch technology from coming to the upcoming tablet.

Meanwhile, it is unclear if Kuo is pointing out that the 3D Touch display feature will be absent only for the first batch of the iPad Air 3, and if Apple is thinking of upgrading the next releases of the new tablet.

To make up for the absence of new display tech, Recombu hopes that the iPad Air 3 will serve as a drawn down version of the iPad Pro and will still feature the powerful A9X chipset of the Apple hybrid. The industry follower added that this will make the upcoming tablet more powerful than its predecessors, able to process graphics-intensive tasks while being small enough to be portable. To make the iPad Air 3 convenient for heavy users to use, Apple will also reportedly ditch a 16-GB storage model in favor of higher-capacity versions for the iPad Air 3.

As for the release date, most observers are saying that the iPad Air 3 was supposed to come out this year, and only may have been shunted in favor of the iPad Pro. This started speculations that the Cupertino-based company will make up for it by announcing the iPad Air 3 in the early months of 2016.
