There are rumors running around the Internet community that Apple will unveil the iPad mini 4 sometime in the middle of the year, between April and July. Speculations also suggest that the next mini will be unveiled alongside the much-hyped iPad Pro.

In a report by MacWorld, it was hypothesized that the most likely scenario would be for the next iPad mini to be unveiled either in October or November — that is, If the pattern of previous releases would be followed. The first iPad mini was unveiled in October 2012 and was officially released the following month. Its successors, the iPad mini 2 and iPad mini 3, followed the format, having been unveiled and released before the year ended. In this manner, it was already expected for the iPad mini 4 to be released this coming October.

However, there have been some rumors that suggest the iPad mini 4 to be released together with the all-new iPad Pro, between April and July this year.

So far, reports have been sketchy on the iPad mini 4's release date, and only speculations fuel its rumored specs. The iPad mini 4 is said to be powered by the same A8X CPU inside the iPad Air 2; however, there are reports that Apple might use a newer, more powerful A8X chipset.

Aside from a powerful chipset, Apple is said to be partnering it with an upgraded RAM, going for 2 GB. The iPad Air 2 was the first iPad to have 2 GB of RAM, but the mini 3 stayed with the 1 GB standard. This time, the new iPad mini is expected to sport 2 gigabytes' worth of RAM.

Like the iPad Air 2, the iPad mini 4 will also be having a laminated display, and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor like its predecessor. Also, it will have upgraded Wi-Fi connectivity, going for 802.11ac over the older iPad mini 3's 802.11n.
