In a bid to widen their iPad line and reach out to their enterprise customers, Apple is reportedly set to release its largest iPad yet, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro or, for some people, the iPad Plus. Regardless of what it will be eventually called, this new tablet from the Cupertino giant will break barriers between the company's line of laptops and its tablets.

The iPad Pro has been first rumored way back in 2013, capturing the imagination of many. But the long wait almost doomed the excitement and speculation behind this new Apple product, although now it seems the hype for the new tablet is back in full throttle.

Rumors are circulating that Apple will be announcing the new iPad Pro in October and production will commence around the same time of its announcement. It is believed that the new tablet will be out in the market as early as November just in time for Christmas. Apple is reportedly seeing to ship 5.5 million units of the full-sized tablet.

Rumor has it that the iPad Pro will have Sharp's 12.9-inch LCD screen. General Interface Solution, a company belonging to Foxconn, will provide for the tablet's touch modules and LCM assembly. The iPad Pro will be paired with a stylus which will be powered by Force Touch technology. The stylus, however, will be shipped separately from the tablet and will be supplied by Cheng Uei.

The iPad Pro is said to have a screen resolution of 2048 x 2732 pixels. This would mean it will have a pixel density of 264 pixels per inch, rendering a near HD picture quality. Other rumored features include a 7000 series aluminum chassis, an A9 processor with 2 GB of RAM, Touch ID and 3.0 USB port/s. It will be available in white/ silver, black/ space gray, white/ gold.

Consequently (or not), Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 is also speculated to be unveiled in October. This can turn out to be an exciting face-off between Apple and Microsoft – again.
