After competitor Microsoft rolled out its Surface Pro 3 tablet, which is an amalgamation of both tablet and laptop in a single machine, Apple reportedly started working on its own large screen device to tip the odds in its favor.  Dubbed as the iPad Pro, Apple's next-gen iPad is rumored to have not only a larger 12.9-inch screen with crisper resolution, it will also be bundled with a lot more surprises. The purported device, which is speculated to be showcased this year, is also rumored to come with a stylus.

Apple Insider reported that the company will be calling the add-on as its iPen or Apple Pen. The website was able to get this information from Ming-Chi Kuo, an individual who is currently employed at KGI Securities. Kuo is dubbed as  the "world's most accurate Apple analyst." He was responsible for unearthing several of Apple's products and their hardware specifications, particularly the Apple Watch release date and the internals of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Kuo is reportedly analyzing iPads, and his latest report is focused on the Cupertino-based company's larger-sized tablet. According to the analyst, the stylus' key feature will be called 3D Handwriting. Thanks to this feature, no hardware changes need to be made on the iPad.

In addition, Apple has already registered patents for its own stylus, which is further evidence suggesting that Apple will be bundling the stylus with what the tech industry is calling the iPad Pro. Apple has not commented on the bundling of the stylus and whether or not its functionality will be branched out to be compatible with the company's previous generation iPads.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is rumored to be released alongside the company's next iOS update and its wearable, the Apple Watch.
