It seems that only a few days have gone since the announcement of iPhone X. Now, rumors are flying that an even more sophisticated iPhone X Plus will hit the market this year.

Hearsays started when South Korean firm LG Display's stock rose following the alleged deal between them and Apple. Apparently, what Electronic Times initially speculated is true: LG is slated to supply Apple with 15 million 6.5-inch OLED screens to produce a new generation of iPhones this year.

Some are betting that it's the iPhone X Plus, but nothing has been set in stone just yet. LG certainly isn't a newbie when it comes to making deals with Apple, since their company supplied the LCD screens for the past versions of the iPhone. Currently, iPhone X's OLED screens were supplied by Samsung.

Samsung isn't being written off with the new deal, though. According to Mac Rumors, LG and Samsung will both supply the OLED screens for the new iPhone releases this year. Apple is expected to manufacture two new 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone models with OLED displays in 2018, with LG set to supply the 6.5-inch OLED panels and Samsung with the 5.8-inch or 6-inch OLED panels.

Aside from the size of the OLED screens, other new possible specs of the new iPhones this year are still in the dark. If the iPhone X Plus is true, then it means its retail price would be a bit higher than the already-expensive iPhone X. To address this, Apple is rumored to also launch a new version of the iPhone SE this year.

According to the Taiwanese market research firm TrendForce, a new iPhone SE could even come in the first half of this year. In terms of possible features for the rumored product, "iPhone X sparked a heated discussion in 2017, but iPhone's production volume increased by only 3% over 2016 due to the technical barriers in improving yield rate of innovative models," the report reads.

"With regard to the supply chain, new iPhones in 2018 will continue to improve Face ID technology, screen to body ratio, etc., moreover, the company plans to increase the memory content and embed AMOLED display in two of its models. [...]

With all the rumors swirling around, it could be a fantastic year for Apple. Still, it's better to wait for the tech giant itself if all the speculations are true.
