iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S5 specs comparison: Which has more speed?

Apple

Since the launch of Apple's iPhone 6, it has been compared with the best of the best smartphones in the market today, one of which is Apple's main rival, Samsung and it's Galaxy S5. So, which one will win the battle between the two tech giants when it comes to everyday performance?

PhoneArena gladly helped with getting the answer. The two flagship smartphones of Apple and Samsung were compared side-by-side each other. PhoneArena wanted to know which phone operates faster and which one has better everyday performance.

PhoneArena had to control some variables, like using stock apps and the same third-party apps for the two smartphones. This is how they compared which one runs faster.

So when it comes to booting the phone, Samsung's Galaxy S5 started a few seconds faster. Why? The Galaxy S5 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. It also has 2GB of RAM.

As for the iPhone 6, it uses Apple's own A8 chip Dual-core 1.4 GHZ Cyclone CPU and PowerVR GX6450 GPU with 1GB of RAM. That, perhaps, explains why the Galaxy S5 boots faster – because its processor is more powerful.

However, there are still other things to consider here. When it came to running core operations, Apple's iPhone 6 was faster during the test. On the other hand, the Galaxy S5 had better clock speed when running the third-party apps.

Going into some other specs of the two smartphones, the Galaxy S5 has a super AMOLED 5.1 inches capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920. It has a pixel density of 432 ppi. The iPhone 6 has a 4.7 inches IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 750 x 1334. It has a pixel density of 326 ppi.

As for the imaging and camera, the Galaxy S5 sports a 16 MP main camera and 2 MP secondary camera. The iPhone 6 has an 8 MP main camera and a 1.2 MP secondary camera.

Further, the Galaxy S5 is water and dust-resistant since it is IP67 certified. The iPhone 6 isn't.

Based on these facts alone, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is ahead in more categories than the iPhone 6. But of course, there are many other factors to consider, one of which is consumer's preference.
