iPhone 6s and 6s Plus pre-orders now live: details

Apple unveiled its newest flagship products in an event held last Sept. 9. In the same event, the Cupertino-based company also revealed that, as with their previous smartphone launches, the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will have a pre-order period before their official rollout on Sept. 25. 

The pre-orders went live on Saturday, Sept. 12.

This is the first time that Apple had scheduled a pre-order  period to start on a weekend. However, the company still retains the same processes for pre-ordering products as with previous iterations of the device, meaning Apple fans can place their pre-orders in more ways than one. 

The most common means is via the Apple website. However, as what had happened with previous pre-orders for various Apple products, the deluge of user traffic affected the website, and some reports indicate that as soon as the gates opened last weekend, Apple's website had spewed out error messages at one time or another. 

Meanwhile, Apple introduced a new way to pre-order the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, and this is through the Apple Store's iOS app. The app had been updated to include a "Get ready to pre-order the iPhone 6s" prompt. Fans who want to use the app to pre-order the new iPhone only need to select from the options, such as the specs of the new smartphone, price, or in the case of those with plans, their mobile carrier of choice. 

Users who are into mobile plans can also pre-order their iPhone 6s and 6s Plus directly from their carriers as AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint already have their pre-order pages set up online. T-Mobile, on the other hand, also accepts pre-orders but plan owners would have to call in first. 

Listed prices for the iPhone 6s are $649 for the 16 GB model, with additional $100 for the 64 GB and $200 for the 128 GB. The iPhone 6s Plus, meanwhile, costs $100 more: the 16 GB model costs $749, the 64 GB variant is priced at $849, and the 128 GB has a $949 price tag.
