iPhone 6s, 6s Plus release date soon as Apple, Best Buy offer $100 price discounts

iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the most recent releases from AppleApple

Rumors about the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have been circulating around the Internet for some time now, and it appears that the two devices may be released soon. This is due to the new discount that Apple and Best Buy are now offering, which slashes $100 off the current iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

The 16 GB iPhone 6, which normally costs $199, is now available for only $99 with a 2-year contract. It is offered in space gray, silver, and gold. The 64 GB now costs $199 instead of $299, and the 128 GB only costs $299 instead of $399, again with 2-year contracts.

On the other end, the 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB iPhone 6 Plus cost $199, $299 and $399, respectively, also with 2-year contracts.

However, these deals are only available for Verizon and Sprint carriers. As evident on the Apple online store and in Best Buy retail stores, the company now offers a new way of purchasing their phones if the buyer chooses AT&T as their carrier. Instead of a subsidized iPhone with a 2-year contract, they will now pay a small monthly fee ($21.64 and $24.97 for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, respectively) but is now cellular contract-free. This enables quicker upgrading options and discounts with regard to monthly data plans.

These new discounts and promos could be an indication that Apple is clearing the shelf in preparation for the launch of the 6s and 6s Plus. It is stated in a report from TechTimes that these two new flagship phones will be launched by September.

Apple has not yet confirmed if they are indeed planning on releasing the purported iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus this year or if they are skipping the devices and moving ahead with the iPhone 7 moniker. The company has not yet confirmed any release dates, neither have they stated that September is their designated launch window.
