iPhone 6s release date happening? phone accidentally leaked by Apple

The Apple website changed the image back to that of an iPhone 5c after a photo of what is believed to be the iPhone 6c was posted on a Lightning Dock charger listing. Apple

Apple may have been working on the iPhone 6c after all. Just recently, while the ever-so-cagey tech giant based in Cupertino promoted its new lightning dock charger on its website, the company used a photo of a particularly unfamiliar iPhone that resembles the iPhone 5c.

Apple has now changed the image, and users, upon checking the website, will see the iPhone 5c instead of the rumored iPhone 6c or iPhone 5c with Touch ID.

Almost immediately, media outlets were convinced that the slightly changed-up iPhone sitting atop the lightning dock is the iPhone 6c. While the handset in the photo flaunts the same plastic casing, the device sported a TouchID fingerprint scanner, which is not featured in the iPhone 5c.

This led many to believe that the Apple iPhone 6c is in the offing. And if it isn't, the tech giant is simply looking to improve the 2013-released variant of its last generation flagship. This also means, by and large, that 4-inch iPhones are still a thing for Apple as much as they are for some users.

This, however, parallels to the possibility that the iPhone S lineup will not be followed up anymore. The supposed Apple iPhone 6s, which is said to be more on the premium side than the 6c, won't be coming. But it is too early to tell seeing that Apple, presumably, did not mean to spill the beans.

The leak simply does not tell the whole story but it does give users a reason to believe that Apple is not abandoning the C moniker just yet. The iPhone 6C, long before this sign of its existence emerged, is believed to be one of the expected three models the tech titan will launch this year.

The integration of a fingerprint sensor makes sense as well. Apple has been working on adding the feature to its future offerings for increased security now that its mobile payment service called Apple Pay has gone full swing.

If the Apple iPhone 6C looks like the one on the lightning dock charger, then users and Apple enthusiasts should see it in actuality with an official announcement in September or October.
