iPhone 6S release date coming soon as TSMC set to wrap up A9 chip production

The release of the rumored iPhone 6S might happen sooner than later as reports claim that chip maker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company has almost completed the production of the A9 chipsets. The A9 processor is one of the purported features of the upcoming Apple device since the current iPhone 6 uses the A8 chipset.

This latest rumor contradicts earlier reports that Samsung is in charge of manufacturing the A9 processors. However, news source The Taipei Times reported that Samsung and TSMC could be dividing the work for the production.

The iPhone 6S will be Apple's budget smartphone rumored to have specs similar to the iPhone 5S, which it is expected to eventually replace along with the iPhone 5C. It is said to have a 4-inch screen display with slightly lower grade specs and features. This is supported by claims of Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri who noted that Apple is indeed working on an iPhone that comes with a 4-inch screen display. In addition, it is speculated to come out in spring.  If so, then the handset will be announced alongside the Apple Watch.

Meanwhile, Apple is also predicted to unveil the successor of the iPhone 6. Said to be released this fall, the iPhone 7 will boast high-end specs and features like sapphire screen display, A9 processor, iOS 9, better camera, battery, and fingerprint sensor.

With these rumors, it seems that Apple will release three smartphones this year. Launching three handsets is the norm, seeing that other companies like Samsung, HTC, and LG roll out three smartphones every year in order to cater to all segments of the market. There are also some predictions that Apple will launch a regular smartphone in the spring, while announcing a phablet in autumn.

However, Apple has not announced anything official so far.
