There are always contradicting reports that surface to test the waters for fans' reactions and gauge how an upcoming product will be welcomed into the market. It seems that the reports about the upcoming successor to the current-gen iPhone are no exception. 

Now, rumors are circulating that Apple will forego with the s-series of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and will instead jump ahead to iPhone 7. According to Apple observer and market analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, the Cupertino-based company will be focusing on releasing the iPhone 7 later this year, and will altogether scrap the s-series for its smartphone line-up. 

The jump will signify that the upcoming model is an entirely new phone, rather than an upgrade of the last ones as hinted by the s-name. 

Also, the new phone would mean there will be new features installed, and this feature will be the Force Touch technology. Similar to the upcoming Apple Watch, Force Touch would make the display much more sensitive and will incorporate various functions based on how hard or soft the pressure from the user's fingers will be.

As reported by ValueWalk, Kuo is quoted as saying, "We believe that iPhone's Force Touch sensor doesn't directly detect the pressure applied by fingers. Instead, it monitors the contact area on which the finger touches the screen to decide how big the pressure is." 

Aside from the iPhone 7, there are also reports that Apple will forego a 4-inch iPhone this year, focusing instead on either a 4.7-inch or a 5.5-inch model as a likely development for the next Apple smartphone. 

Apple fans are taking the report with a grain of salt, although Kuo has been successful in his previous predictions about Apple products and features, particularly about the iPhone 5. Still, only an official announcement from Apple will tell.
