iPhone 7 release date news: Phone to be thicker than iPhone 6

Much hype is being given to the upcoming Apple smartphone. With the Worldwide Developers Conference already concluded, and Apple confirming the coming of iOS 9, many Apple fans and tech observers are saying that a new version of the iPhone will be coming before the year ends.

In the latest rumor roundup, it seems that the next Apple iPhone will be a thicker version of its predecessor. According to online site iDigitalTimes, Engadget Japan is saying that the upcoming Apple smartphone will be at least 0.2 millimeter thicker than the iPhone 6. In addition, since the design will remain essentially the same, with only reported internal updates, it is more likely that the next iPhone would be an iPhone 6s rather than a whole new upgraded iPhone 7 version. The rumors about the next release being an updated 6s version rather than a 7 seem to be bolstered by the images leaked online.

According to reports, the slightly thicker iPhone will come with a faster processor, additional RAM, better camera, and more robust internals. If this is to be the case, then Apple fans would have to wait until next year to get their hands on an iPhone 7. Others even speculate that in order to bolster the iOS 9 launch, Apple will be releasing two variants of the new iPhone.

In terms of release dates, many pundits say that Apple would be announcing the new iPhone before fall ends, to contend with Samsung announcing their new Galaxy Note 5 in September. The speculations also say that to put more force behind the new release, Apple will be launching the iOS 9 and the new iPhone together with a new Apple tablet, most likely the rumored larger iPad Pro. These devices will presumably be launched in preparation for the coming holiday rush.
