Apple recently unveiled the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, both of them carrying several new improvements. According to a report from PC Advisor, this release would mean that the next device in the iPhone lineup, the iPhone 7, won't come out until September 2016. 

Whether consumers should immediately purchase the iPhone 6s or wait one more year for the iPhone 7 would depend on the features that they are looking for. At this point, there are no confirmed details regarding what Apple has planned for the iPhone 7 but there are speculations on improvements and new features. 

According to the report, the iPhone 7 may feature waterproof architecture and an improved pixel count while still retaining the 12 MP rear camera introduced with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The report also says that the iPhone 7 will come packed with iOS10, one level above iOS9 which was launched alongside the 6s and 6s Plus. 

The report also states that the phone may feature sidewall display as a direct answer to the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, S6 Edge and S6 Edge Plus. A reversible USB charger is also touted as an improvement that may be featured with the phone next year. 

The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus look similar in structure to the 6 and 6 Plus but there are many improvements which can be compelling for consumers to buy the phone now instead of waiting for a new model in 2016. The most prominent improvement that the 6s and 6s Plus bring to the table is the capability of capturing 4k videos.

Both new phones also introduce 3D Touch which detects how firmly a person is pressing down on the touchscreen, allowing for different results depending on different types of presses.

Apple Pay has also been integrated with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus as Apple's version of an e-wallet. By using the Apple Touch ID, owners can pay for their purchases in stores and within apps. 

While the iPhone 7 won't be released until next year, the 6s and 6s Plus will be available for purchase this Sept. 25.
