iPhones will, at some point, offer some problems and there is a reason why part replacement/s are urged to be done by certified Apple service centers.

Normally, it wouldn't matter and everyone knows that having an outside technician tinker with the Apple device would hardly matter. That was until the latest iOS update which has reportedly left thousands of iPhone 6 owners with a bricked and unusable phone.

A celebrated "Error 53" message has reportedly been plaguing users who have installed the latest iOS, mostly folks who have had devices using replacement parts in lieu of authentic Apple ones.

The whole issue seems to be traced to the home button of the iPhone where the said button or any cable connected to it is replaced with an alternative piece. The update can, apparently, tell if the component is not genuine, locking out the phone and leaving owners with a useless handset.

iPhone owners opt to have their devices fixed by a third party technician for one reason or another. Likely reasons are because of the cost (reportedly around £236 to repair an iPhone 6 in the UK according to Apple.com) or no sight of a nearest Apple service center.

Even though it remains to be seen if the update included the detection of unauthorized changes, the fact remains that Apple has long encouraged its customers to have their phones serviced by an actual Apple service center despite the looming high costs of getting it fixed.

But as it stands now, iPhone owners may end up shelling out more for avoiding the original cost of having the device repaired.

Handsets which render the "Error 53" message have no recourse but to take it to a certified Apple center. But with the cat out of the bag that the iPhone has been tampered with, warranty is voided and translates to a double black eye since it means more repair expenses ahead.
