iPhone SE vs iPhone 6s news: Comparing the new phone with the previous one

Existing iPhone models from Apple Inc. A new iteration, the iPhone SE, has been added to the lineup. There is also a new, 9.7-inch iPad Pro set to release on March 31.Apple

The iPhone SE's price tag is set at US$400 for the 16GB variant and US$500 for the 64GB variant. The iPhone 6s, with almost similar tech specs, comes in at US$650 for the version with 16GB storage. A 64GB model and a 128GB version are also available for the 6s.

Both iPhones can be purchased with the same colors, namely gold, silver, space gray and rose gold. The iPhone 6s has a full-metal back while the SE offers only a partially metal back, the upper and lower portions being made out of another material, something like glass.

They also have the same processor, the A9 chip with 64-bit architecture and an embedded M9 co-processor. No benchmark score is available just yet since it hasn't been released to the public. However, those who got hold of demo units have already tried to get some benchmark scores. According to a report by Redmondpie, the latest iPhone seems to be the fastest iPhone yet. The report shared its Geekbench score of 2538 for single-core test and 4421 for multi-core test. Meanwhile, the iPhone 6s gave a 2292 single-core score and 4293 multi-core score previously. Both iPhones sport 2GB of RAM.

The two iPhone models also have NFC, LTE connectivity and Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac. They also have a fingerprint sensor built right into the Home button, Apple Pay, and a 12MP iSight camera that offers 4K video recording at 30 fps, but the iPhone 6s offers video geotagging while the iPhone SE does not.

However, for the front camera, the 6s offers a 5MP one while the SE contains a 1.2MP shooter. Both can also accommodate FaceTime video and audio calling.

When it comes to the estimated battery usage, there are slight differences between the two. While surfing the Internet, the iPhone SE gives a few more hours compared to the 6s. Video playback also affects the battery performance; it is 2 hours more for the iPhone SE. Nevertheless, the 6s has a slightly bigger and better screen, 4.7-inch with 1334 x 750 pixel resolution HD display while the SE offers a 4-inch 1136 x 640 pixel resolution.

The iPhone SE will be available on Apple stores starting March 31.
