The iPhone X has been in the market for a few weeks, and some users who recently purchased the handset have complained about the screen's lack of response. The issue has already reached Apple, which promised to release a software update to fix their latest flagship's screen responsiveness.

As reported by The Verge, the Cupertino-based tech giant has acknowledged the reports from iPhone X users claiming that the screen became unresponsive in cold weather. The first case of the iPhone X's unresponsive screen was reported by a Reddit user, saying that the device's screen stopped responding after stepping out of his house for at least two seconds. It appears that the handset froze once exposed to low temperature, although the main culprit behind the screen responsiveness issue has yet to be determined.

There are only a few reports of unresponsive iPhone X screen posted online. Nevertheless, Apple is willing to provide a solution for this issue via software update.

"We are aware of instances where the iPhone X screen will become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment," Apple said in the company's official blog, The Loop. "After several seconds the screen will become fully responsive again. This will be addressed in an upcoming software update."

The mechanism behind the promised software update is not known, especially on how it will make the iPhone X screen adapt in cold environment. Although, Apple also advised the users to avoid using the iPhone X and other iOS devices in chilly weather. According to NDTV, Apple said that the ideal ambient temperature where an iOS device can work properly is between 32 degrees to 95 degrees Fahrenheit, or 0 degrees to 35 degrees Celsius. Aside from an unresponsive screen, Apple warned that the iOS device can experience reduced battery life.

Some people thought that there might have been other reasons behind the iPhone X screen freezing up. If not for the cold weather, it is speculated that the iPhone X's front-facing infrared camera, Face ID light sensor, and TrueDepth features could be causing the screen to become unresponsive.
