'Iron Fist' news: Joy and Ward Meachum set to cause trouble

With the success of both seasons of "Daredevil" and the first season of "Jessica Jones," Netflix continues to move forward with their side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of their next big series, "Iron Fist," is gaining a lot of momentum as a report from Marvel says the series has just found their Joy and Ward Meachum.

In the original comic books, Joy and Ward are niece and uncle, respectively, but for the sake of the show they have been altered as siblings, both of them children of the season's supposed villain Harold Meachum (David Wenham). Joy will be played by "The Following" star Jessica Stroup while Ward will be portrayed by "Banshee" star Tom Pelphrey.

Main character Danny Rand aka Iron Fist (Finn Jones) will immediately be at odds with the siblings and with their father. After wandering the world, he returns home only to discover that Harold has taken over Rand Enterprises. According to the announcement, Joy has been managing the business while her brother Ward serves as her closest ally and confidante.

With Danny returning, both siblings see him as a rival who must be taken out before he can find a way to regain the company out of their hands.

According to a report from Screen Rant, there is a possibility of Ward Meachum working alongside the Hand, the organization that caused trouble in "Daredevil" season 2, tying the two shows together. If this pushes through, it is speculated that the Meachums will call in a villain named Master Khan to eventually handle the Iron Fist.

However, the report also points out that this is still speculation given that Marvel and Netflix have not yet given any hint that Master Khan will be making an appearance in the series thus far. That being said, it is expected that Netflix will be giving more information as the year closes, with production for "The Defenders" scheduled for the fall.
