"Iron Man 4" is still heavily talked about since a lot of fans are eager to know what the future is like for the movie franchise, but so far details are still unconfirmed.

Not much is known about the next installment; it also remains to be seen if there is really going to be a fourth "Iron Man" movie or if Robert Downey Jr. will come back to reprise his role as Tony Stark.

But what's known at this point is that fans will not be seeing "Iron Man 4" anytime soon. Apparently, the movie is not included in the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Phase 2 of MCU recently concluded with "Ant-Man" and a new phase, Phase 3, is starting this year with "Captain America: Civil War" on May 6. There are 11 movies that are part of Phase 3 and notably missing from the bunch is "Iron Man."

Marvel also announced that there will also be three untitled Marvel movies that will be released in 2020. The big question there is if "Iron Man 4" will be a part of it. Fans can only hope so, but at the moment, Marvel has not released updates on the 2020 Marvel movies.

There's no official announcement on the next "Iron Man 4" installment and in addition, Downey Jr. hinted in the past that it's time for him to let go of Tony Stark.

He had been injured on the set of "Iron Man 3," which led him to wonder how many more sequels will be actually fun to do. Downey Jr.'s age is the most significant factor that gets in the way of his return as Stark.

If the actor decides to reprise the role, he'll be about 55 years old, while other "Avengers" actors will only be in their thirties.

If there is a next "Iron Man" movie, speculations are rife that a new actor will play Tony Stark. Fans can't help but wonder; will there be an actor who's going to be more compelling than Downey Jr.?
