While actor Robert Downey Jr. appears uncertain about donning Tony Stark's steel suit for the fourth time, film director Jon Favreau admitted that he wants to direct "Iron Man 4" if given a chance.

Favreau, responsible for helming 2008's "Iron Man" and its sequel "Iron Man 2" in 2010, said that he would be interested to return to the director's chair of the franchise.

"I don't know. I would like to," the filmmaker said in an interview with IANS, as reported by First Post.

The actor-filmmaker had to relinquish the role of director for "Iron Man 3" in 2013 to direct "Magic Kingdom." However, he remained in the film's cast as Stark's head of security department Happy Hogan. Shane Black filled in for Favreau for "Iron Man 3."

Favreau also believes that Downey should continue portraying the role of the billionaire playboy-turned-superhero. "I think people would love to see Robert Downey continue the Iron Man character," the actor-director said during an interview at the red carpet event for his film "Chef," as reported by Comic Book Movie. "I hope he continues doing it as long as he fits in that suit."

However, Downey believes that his last portrayal of Iron Man will happen in the upcoming film "Captain America: Civil War."

In an interview with USA Today, Downey said that "In a way it's Cap 3 but for me it's like my little Iron Man 4 and then it's back to the thing we all recognize. Everything pulls over to the side of the road when the thunder of an Avengers thing comes through because that's how it is until it changes. If it changes."

The actor believes he will be too old to wear the superhero costume again if the film will be shot in the next five years.
