'Iron Man 4' updates: Robert Downey Jr. ready for one more solo film

Marvel Studios has revealed their current time line of films for Marvel Phase Three and none of these include any mention of "Iron Man 4." That being said, actor Robert Downey Jr. himself has confirmed that he may be up to do one more solo film before leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking to ABC during a special featurette for "Captain America: Civil War," Downey was asked if he would ever don the suit of Iron Man once more, given that his current contract ends with his appearances in the two-part "Avengers: Infinity War" films.

"I feel like I could do one more," was all the actor stated but it was enough confirmation to get fans speculating if the actor and Marvel Studios are already working out a deal to get "Iron Man 4" included in Marvel Phase Four.

There may be apprehensions of moving forward with "Iron Man 4" given how large Downey's salary demand is and because the actor is getting a little old to continue portraying an action role. That being said, every film with Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark aka Iron Man has been a hit.

In particular, "Iron Man 3," "Avengers" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" have all earned over $1 billion worldwide and it appears that "Captain America: Civil War" will do the same. No matter how high the actor demands for his salary it is likely that the box office earnings of the film will guarantee that Marvel and Disney earn a hefty profit nonetheless.

However, as stated in a report from Cinema Blend, this does not immediately mean "Iron Man 4" is confirmed. It only confirms that Downey is ready to play the role one more time after his contract is up but it does not mean Marvel Studios is green-lighting a sequel just yet.

"Captain America: Civil War" will be released in theaters this May 6.
