Rock and roll legend David Bowie's death has saddened the entertainment industry, and many of his fans are heartbroken over the loss of a creative genius.

But Harvest Christian Fellowship Pastor Greg Laurie is doing more than just mourn his loss—he is actually reflecting whether or not the singer made it to heaven.

Throughout his lifetime, Bowie experimented with different religions, including Christianity. In the end, however, he seemed to veer more towards atheism.

In an article for The Christian Post, Laurie says "Bowie admittedly tried pretty much everything this culture offered, but did not find the meaning he sought. He was filled with questions throughout his life."

So when confronted with the question of whether or not Bowie is in heaven, Laurie can only answer: "I certainly hope so."

"We all need to understand this simple truth: Heaven is not the default destination of every person. Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people. Jesus Christ made it very clear how people can be certain that they will spend eternity in this wonderful place called heaven," he explains.

Laurie says if Bowie called out to Jesus to forgive him of his sins, and then put his trust in Him, then he is most definitely in heaven. This is the case as well for any other person who seeks a real relationship with God.

The Bible verse John 14:6 says: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me."

Laurie wants people to remember the Bible passages Philippians 2:10 to 11 as well. They say: "At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

So no matter if a person is rich or poor, Republican or Democrat, a president, movie star, or rock star, they will all end up bowing to God.

"Jesus loves David Bowie and He loves you and welcomes all into His presence. But we must believe and trust in Him," Laurie points out.
