Hamilton dominated during qualifying and now will be favorite to take another win and extend his lead at the top of the drivers' championship.

Meanwhile, Nico Rosberg struggled in qualifying and could only manage to take fourth place on the grid. He was beaten by both Ferraris, driven by Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.

In fifth and sixth in the grid will be Williams' Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas.

If Hamilton can claim a second straight win then it will be his seventh victory of the season, however, he can expect a tough race, and will know all too well that usually everything does not go as expected having not won from pole position a number of times this year.

Hamilton took pole with a new spec engine, and he seemed to utilize the new specs well, setting the pace through each and every practice session as well as the three sessions of qualifying.

Rosberg was not so lucky though, and experienced severe problems with his new spec engine, meaning he was forced to resort back to his older spec engine.

Rosberg will be bitterly disappointed so far, as he is trying to catch up with Hamilton, who holds a 28 point lead coming into this Italian Grand Prix.

Hamilton is expecting a tough fight with the two Ferraris though, and has said ahead of the race: "They've definitely made a step with the engine for qualifying. It's great to see them giving us a bigger run for our money. I'm expecting [a close challenge in the race] but the engineers I don't believe are."
