The season 2 premiere of "iZombie" showed that Major (Robert Buckley) is alive and well after Liv (Rose McIver) saved him from becoming a zombie during the season 1 finale. But it appears that he's not fully himself because though he didn't join the ranks of the undead, he now has the ability to sense if someone is a zombie. This new ability will come in handy for Major this season. In the premiere, which aired earlier this week, he was blackmailed by Max Rager to kill all the zombies in Seattle in exchange for not harming Liv.

Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Rob Thomas talked about Major's new mission, saying that the character is going to do what he needs to do for him and Liv to stay alive, but it won't be easy for him.

"It's going to be a moral crisis for him," said Thomas. "It will be tearing him apart, and it doesn't get any easier for him for a long time."

But Major is not going to sit back and take it all season, and the producer said that at some point, he's going to figure out how to outwit Max Rager.

Liv will also be constantly under the watchful eye of Max Rager boss Vaughn (Steven Weber) after planting his assistant, Gilda (Leanne Lapp) as Liv's new roommate in Peyton's absence. Thomas said that viewers should count on Gilda and Liv sharing a home throughout several more episodes because Gilda won't be found out anytime soon.

"She's clever, that girl," he said of Gilda. "But yeah, I doubt she'll make it through the season.

And now that Blaine (David Anders) has been turned back into a human, he won't be this season's sole big bad anymore. Thomas said that this year, Vaughn is going be the main villain. But fans shouldn't disregard Blaine because he's trying to become the crime lord of Seattle—a position that's already filled by a man named Mr. Boss (Eddie Jemison).

"iZombie" airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
