After Nicholas Hoult announced that "X-Men: Apocalypse" will be his last portrayal of The Beast, another cast member announced that she will not be reprising her role as one of the super mutants in the franchise. 

During the New York premiere of her period drama movie "Serena," Oscar Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence told MTV that the next installment in the "X-Men" franchise will be the last time that she will portray the shape-shifting character Mystique. 

"It is my last one, actually," Lawrence stated with no further explanation. 

This means that the alleged spin-off film that will focus on Mystique might not happen after all. Also, this will be the second franchise that Lawrence will be letting go of. The actress will finish her obligations to the "Hunger Games" franchise this year after four movies as teen heroine Katniss Everdeen.

Lawrence was first introduced as Mystique in the 2011-released "X-Men: First Class," whose alter ego is named Raven Darkholme. She reprised that role in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" released in 2014. The second film gave her mutant character's storyline more emphasis compared to the first one, and it is expected that she will be one of the central figures in the upcoming film that will be released next year. 

The main plot of the upcoming film centers on the fight of mutants against the immortal villain named Apocalypse, and it is set back in the 1980s. 

Aside from Lawrence and Hoult, the film will also feature Michael Fassbender who will return as Magneto and James McAvoy who will reprise his role as Professor X. It will also introduce new characters like Jean Grey, portrayed by "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner, as well as Storm, played by Alexandra Shipp. It will once again be directed by Bryan Singer. 

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
