While most players are looking for that monstrous paycheck, Jeremy Lin knows that he has to prove that he deserves such too, but maybe in time.

After bombing out of his stint with the Los Angeles Lakers which saw him practically alienated last year, Lin is undoubtedly happy with his new home in Charlotte.

Of course, he is earning a whole lot less than his previous contract. After being paid $15 million as part of the final pay for his previous contract absorbed by the Los Angeles Lakers from the Houston Rockets, Lin is all set for a fresh beginning.

Lin signed a two-year contract with the Charlotte Hornets where he is set to receive $4.37 million in total. The numbers are a far cry from his previous contract but such hardly seems a problem for the Asian-American standout best remembered for his Linsanity days over in New York.

Through a report from ESPN, Lin cites having an open line of communication earlier on as a good start for his new home. Even though it wasn't mentioned, many are taking that comment as something hurled towards his lack of communication with Lakers coach Byron Scott when both tried to make it work in Los Angeles.

All that is, of course, in the past and Lin is ready to move on. And being in one of his claimed favorite NBA cities, Lin seems to be all pumped up for an entirely new season where he is expected to be more offensive-minded and hit it from the outside.

The Hornets are apparently lacking in outside threats and with Lin, they not only get someone who can ignite some energy but offer some help on the defensive end as well.

Aside from Lin, the Hornets were able to land Nicolas Batum, Jeremy Lamb, and Spencer Hawes. The new guys will try to blend in well with Al Jefferson and Kemba Walker, a mix which would hopefully allow head coach Steve Clifford in his quest to bring the Hornets back in the playoff picture.
