Jessica Chastain talks about sexual harassment, calls out Bryan Singer
Jessica Chastain is on a mission to call out the men embroiled in the wave of sexual harassment accusations in Hollywood.
One of the more vocal artists in Hollywood in connection with the sexual misconduct scandal rocking the industry, the Oscar-nominated actress has been using her social media presence and her interviews to call out Hollywood about what's happening right now and to express her solidarity with the victims. One of the people that Chastain is calling out is one of her co-workers.
The actress has called out director Bryan Singer, in relation to the widespread and alarming issue of sexual abuse and harassment in the industry. Sitting down with Screen Rant for the press junket of her soon-to-be released film "Molly's Game," the actress had some choice words to say about the issue: "My current thoughts and feelings are I want to do whatever I can to support the victims and to that I believe them and that there's a community of artists that are committed to creating safe work environments."
She added that Hollywood is functioning the way it's supposed to be and saying that the issue right now has gone beyond gender as it affects everyone in Hollywood. She expressed her excitement that the generation of artists she's with is finally done with the old ways of the industry.
A day before the junket for her film, Chastain sent out a tweet on an article from the Daily Wire about Singer's inappropriate behavior in the past. A Twitter user pointed out that the actress is included in the cast of the upcoming movie "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" in which Singer is listed as one of the producers. Chastain replied to the user saying that she did not realize that Singer was involved in the film until recently and that she had no interactions with him as he was not on the set.
