"Jessica Jones" season 1 proved that the Marvel television series on Netflix did not owe its success solely to "Daredevil" as the show managed to garner critical praises and high viewership. According to a report from Digital Spy (via Screen Rant), the second season is already moving forward and will be filmed back to back with "The Defenders."

"The Defenders," which focuses on uniting Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones), will be filmed first. Once production for the series has ended the crew will begin working immediately on "Jessica Jones" season 2.

"They'll be back-to-back. I don't know if they'll overlap a little bit. It's about to be a serious undertaking. I'm starting my physical training - lots of weight training and boxing," explained Ritter in the report. "I'm excited to see what happens next for Jessica, and the end of season one left a lot of doors open and questions unanswered."

"The Defenders" does not begin filming until the end of the year which indicates it may take another year before "Jessica Jones" season 2 premieres on Netflix. Fans speculate that this news may indicate season 2 will premiere as late as November 2017, releasing two years after the premiere of season 1.

However, Ritter also teases that fans won't have to wait too long to see Jessica Jones in action. The character will be in "The Defenders" and the actress hinted that she may have filmed a few scenes for the upcoming "Luke Cage" series. Ritter also confirmed that Netflix and Marvel will first premiere "Luke Cage" followed by "Iron Fist."

In a separate report from Digital Spy, it has been confirmed that another cast member from "Jessica Jones" is going to appear in "The Defenders." According to the report, actor Eka Darville, who plays Malcolm, will be included and may serve as Jessica Jones's link to the rest of the superheroes involved.
