"Jessica Jones" season 1 proved to be a massive success; however, executive producer Liz Friedman will be stepping down in order to focus on the ABC pilot of "Conviction." According to a report from Deadline, "The Returned" showrunner and producer Raelle Tucker has been brought in to take Friedman's spot, serving as executive producer and writer.

"I'm thrilled to have someone as talented as Raelle join our team as writer and executive producer as we delve into Jessica's continued story," explained showrunner Melissa Rosenberg.

Tucker will be working hand in hand with Rosenberg to craft the story and manage the production of "Jessica Jones" season 2, which is speculated by fans to further develop the other Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes appearing on Netflix in preparation for the "Defenders" series, which puts them all together, akin to the "Avengers."

The enthusiasm was later echoed by the Head of Marvel TV, Jeph Loeb, who promised that season 2 will be as good if not better than the critically acclaimed freshman season of the show.

Fans should also look forward to what the team has in store for "Jessica Jones" season 2 given that Tucker's background includes work on other big shows such as HBO's "True Blood" and the CW's long-running series "Supernatural."

As for the official plot of season 2, nothing has yet surfaced, which is understandable given that the studios have just hired a new writer-producer who will still needs to spend time to get acquainted with the property and then work on what direction season 2 will follow, alongside Rosenberg. 

However, it has been implied through season 2 of "Daredevil" that the world of the Netflix shows will expand, with multiple crossovers eventually happening in order to build up the "Defenders" series. According to Den of Geek, it is even likely for Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) to appear on "Jessica Jones" as an anchor tying all the series together.
