Marvel and Netflix might be both keeping mum about what will happen in the second season of "Jessica Jones." However, intrepid fans have made deductions based on the casting call issued for the show.

Four new characters were slated for inclusion in the cast for season 2. The first is Dr. Kirby, a male scientist in his 60s who is described as a "freethinker." Another character is Presley, an African-American in his late 30s who is intelligent, self-assured, and driven. There is also Oliver, a Latino male in his mid-thirties who is "artistic, paternal, smart, scruffy, and hip." The last one is Ingrid, who is a bisexual female in her mid-thirties with dark hair. She is described as attractive, streetwise, and edgy, who has experienced living on the streets.

All characters except for Presley will serve as series regulars.

MCU Exchange, however, mentioned that the casting call should not be taken at face value, given that Marvel has a tendency to hide the real characters behind code names, which begin with the same letter as the actual characters they will be playing. Following this logic, the website theorized that Dr. Kirby is, in fact, Dr. Karl Malus, a geneticist who, in the comics, founded the Institute for Supernormality Research. He could appear in the series as the lead researcher of IGH, which was responsible for giving Jessica (Krysten Ritter) her powers.

Presley could be the code name of Paul Denning, otherwise known as Paladin, who first appeared in the "Daredevil" comics. He is a womanizing private investigator. Oliver could be Otis Johnson, a somewhat scrawny character in the comics who received superpowers through IGH. Finally, Ingrid could be Ian Soo, who appeared in "Patsy Walker A.K.A. Hellcat!" as a bisexual character with telekinetic abilities. Another possible character is Typhoid Mary, although this would defy the first letter rule.

While no actors have been associated with these characters as of yet, Marvel did confirm that Janet McTeer will be joining the cast. However, it is unclear yet what role she will play, only that she will have a large impact on Jessica.

The air date of season 2 of "Jessica Jones" has not been revealed yet. However, Ritter will reprise her role as the troubled superhero in "The Defenders," which airs later this year.
