After an acclaimed first season and a successful team with the Defenders, Hell's Kitchen's toughest private investigator, "Jessica Jones," will be coming back to television screens in 2018.

"Jessica Jones" herself, Krysten Ritter, posted an artwork featuring her character on Twitter, with the caption simply reading, "Jessica Jones 2 - coming in 2018."

The first season of the show was launched in November 2015, and was received with great reviews and wide acclaim. Although the success of the first season garnered the show a second season very quickly, the sophomore season has been delayed for a while in order to make way for the miniseries "The Defenders."

The miniseries saw Jones teaming up with fellow New Yorkers Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) in order to defeat a growing threat to the city that they love. Jones, while preferring to be alone and to do things her own way, did not buckle in the presence of three male superheroes, but instead showed how tough and badass she really is.

While the heroine was very hesitant to use her abilities in the first season, "The Defenders" showed that she was starting to embrace who she is, and in "Jessica Jones" season 2, fans will be seeing her revealing the extent of her powers.

The upcoming season will be exploring some dark places in the protagonist's past, including the years of her childhood following the death of her parents. Liz Cappuccino, the actress who played the teen version of Jones, will be appearing again in the second season.

Trish Walker, Jones' adoptive sister, will also be appearing in the heroine's backstory. Trish and her family was the one who took Jones in after she became an orphan.

After its much-lauded first season and the interesting interactions provided in "The Defenders," "Jessica Jones" seems prime to dig deeper into the character and embattled past of the heroine in the second season.
