An international group known as The Aetherius Society believes that Jesus Christ came from the planet Venus, and its members plan to do a pilgrimage to a holy site in England where they claim Jesus descended to meet with the group's founder.

According to reports, a former cab driver named George King founded The Aetherius Society in the 1950s after he heard a voice telling him that he was representing Earth in a parliament consisting of different planets. King apparently claimed that he met with Jesus at the Holdstone Down, a mountain in North Devon, in 1958.

Resources on the society's official site refer visitors to various documentaries where King detailed how he met Jesus. In one video, King claimed he saw Jesus descend from a spacecraft on top of Holdstone Down at the time of their meeting.

"He was very tall, he was dressed in a long robe, he had long brownish hair – there was so much radiance around the man," King said. "I knew that he was Jesus and that he had come from the planet Venus – I didn't have to be told, I just knew this."

King died in 1997 but his followers continue to hold onto his beliefs. Each year since his death, the group has held its annual "Operation Prayer Power" at Holdstone Down. This year, the event will take place on Saturday, July 28.

The Aetherius Society states on its official site that there are other holy mountains in North Devon and around the world, such as Colorado, Tanzania and France. The group also believes in a spectrum of spiritual sciences, religion and philosophy like Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and New Age, as well as yoga.

They follow life principles based on King's teachings that come "from the higher planes of Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn" but the group also say their community primarily exists to serve and heal.
