Jesus Culture encourages believers to 'do something'
International Christian youth outreach ministry Jesus Culture is encouraging believers to go out into the world and "do something" to change it for the better.
Jesus Culture's Becky Johnson wrote on their website that the people who enact change are "rare and beautiful folks who refuse to be satisfied with the status quo." These people do not stand idly by while injustice prevails, nor do they stay silent when the enemy does something wrong.
Granted, it takes great courage and heart to be the change the world needs, but in doing so, Christians bring to the earth the will and Kingdom of God.
"The world is a big and often scary place but it is ours for the taking. If God is for you, who can be against you? Our light cannot shine in the darkness if we will not expose it. How can we make a difference if we are living afraid and overwhelmed by the circumstances around us?" she urged.
Johnson added that our mission in life is to spread God's word, and to burn with a passion in others for His goodness, power, and love. "You can try to deny it but it is what we were created for. It is why we are alive. To bring God glory. To bring Heaven to earth," she said.
The writer added that creating a movement for change is actually pretty simple and does not necessarily have to be headline-grabbing news in order to be significant.
"It is a prayer meeting on your high school campus. It is sitting with the uncool kids at lunch. It is giving that prophetic word to your co-worker. It is organizing a mission trip. It is picking up trash in your community. It is giving bags of groceries to the underprivileged. It is praying at the doors of the abortion clinic," she said.
Even if these acts seem small, they will later create a whirlwind of change, Johnson guaranteed.
