Joe Giudice has opened up about Teresa's life behind bars and how she's coping since starting her prison sentence on Jan. 5 for fraud.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the father of four said that his wife is "holding up."

"I can't say she's doing great but she looks good. She keeps her spirits up and tries to make us feel like she's ok, but she's really not. She wants to be home," he said.

Joe said that the cookbook author has been keeping busy and that she does a lot of reading and exercising to pass the time.

"She's keeping herself busy," said Joe. "Just working out. What else is she gonna do there? Read. Working out. Eat. Email."

Joe revealed that Teresa has a job in the Danbury federal prison but says that he has no idea what it is.

"She doesn't tell me about her job," said Joe, adding that Teresa said that she had an easy job and that she likes doing it. "I think she wipes down a couple tables a day," he said.

Joe also said that he thinks she makes "a dollar a day or maybe a dollar a month" but is not quite sure about this. In federal prisons, inmates get to have jobs in exchange for a set amount of wages, which they can use to purchase items from the commissary.

In an interview with E! News, Joe shared some details of his prison visits and said that he always takes their four daughters Gia, 14, Gabriella, 10, Milania, 9, and Audriana, 5 to see their mother.

Joe said that he and Teresa just sit down and talk at the visitor's area where they can buy snacks and that his daughters "go crazy because it's like one big room there." He said that the prison also has a small room where children can go and play with toys. He also shared that once in a while, his wife wants to take a picture during their visits.
"She loves taking pictures, even in there," he said.

The 43-year-old said that he has a hard time saying goodbye to his wife at the end of each visit but is thankful that her prison sentence is almost over. Teresa will be released from prison on Dec. 23.
