Joey Feek and Rory Feek will watching Monday night's Grammy Award 2016 show as their duo "Joey+Rory" are up for the Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Joey Feek, diagnosed with terminal cancer last fall, previously set the goal to survive long enough to make the awards show.

She has not only made it, but she even went as far as buying a plane ticket for her husband to attend the Grammy Awards ceremony in person.

However, Rory subsequently refused to use the ticket and has confirmed he wont be attending the 58th annual Grammys in person, as there was absolutely no way he would be leaving his wife's side - even for the biggest night in the music industry calendar!

He explained his reasons for refusing to attend the Grammys on his blog "ThisLifeILive.com" where he wrote: "I can't leave her. I won't. I have done many foolish things and made lots of mistakes in my life, but this isn't going to be one of them."

The couple instead will remain together to watch the awards show on TV in Indiana, and have asked their manager and their adult daughters to attend the live show as their representatives.

Rory wrote: "I will be sitting beside her and cheering on Little Big Town, and Blake Shelton and Charles (Kelley) and all the talented folks who are nominated in our category and others. It's an honor for us to just be a part of that night, it truly is."

Rory and Joey were asked by their daughters to write an acceptance speech for them to read in case they end up winning, however, by Sunday morning they still had not penned anything.

Rory explained: "I told them not to worry about it, but they insist. I can't imagine our names being called.  But then again, Joey and I also couldn't have imagined us being where we are at all … the good parts or the bad."

He confirmed that he would wrote a few notes, and would have Joey take a look over them and help fix things up when she has the energy. He wrote: "She will say 'it's beautiful honey,' and then gently point out the words I've misspelled and let me know if I've left off something important, or am coming across sounding arrogant or insincere. I might have the words that bring characters to life. But my wife has the character that brings my words to life."
