John Mayer thanks fans for well wishes as he recovers from an emergency surgery after a bout of appendicitis on Tuesday. The 40-year-old musician is said to be "in good spirits" after the appendectomy.

In a tweet, the "Free Fallin'" singer said, "Thank you everyone for the well wishes. Had surgery yesterday and woke up to see some amazingly kind and loving tweets." He also apologized to fans for having to cancel his remaining shows with the Dead & Company slated for a couple of nights in Florida.

Mayer was on tour with Grateful Dead founding members Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir, as well as Mickey Hart, who joined the band two years after its formation in 1967. The group has already completed a series of shows at Philips Arena in Atlanta on Nov. 29, American Airlines Center in Dallas on Dec. 1, and Frank Erwin Center in Austin on Dec. 2. Following the emergency surgery, Mayer's representative announced that Dead & Company is re-scheduling its remaining shows slated for Dec. 7 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida and Dec. 8 at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida. That is in addition to the previously canceled Dec. 5 show at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The singer also has a number of performances booked in the coming weeks. The first one, "Alice in Wonderland," which he will headline with Maren Morris at the Masonic in San Francisco on Dec. 12, has also been postponed. According to the announcement, all tickets for the abovementioned dates will be valid for the re-scheduled concerts, which they would announce at a later time. Those who want a refund could also do so at the point of purchase. Despite all the canceled shows, the singer seems to be in good shape. He recently posted a mirror selfie on Instagram captioned, "still got it," to the delight of fans.
