Jolla tablet with Sailfish OS: Preorder now

Jolla Official

A new tablet from Jolla is now available as a pre-ordered device after its successful crowdfunding campaign held last year. Distribution of Jolla tablets will be in October, reports stated.

The Finland-based firm Jolla was founded by several former employees of Nokia. Their first smartphone was introduced back in 2013.

This small startup only had a limited budget and so they relied on crowdsourcing from Indiegogo to obtain the funds for the new tablet.

Jolla tablet is unique in its own way since most of its features come from suggestions provided by professionals, enthusiasts, and even amateurs, Engadget reported.

According to Gadgets NDTV, Jolla tablet carries hardware specs comparable to Apple's second generation iPad mini.

It has a 7.85-inch screen with a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution. It runs on a 64-bit 1.8GHz Quad Intel Atom Z3735F with a 2 GB RAM capacity.

The Finnish tablet also has a 2-megapixel front camera and a 5-megapixel rear shooter. It is offered in two variants based on internal storage capacity: the 32 GB and 64 GB models.

Both variants offer expandable microSD slot support.

The device is powered by a 4,450mAh battery; it is also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ready.

Furthermore, Jolla tablet also features an accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and a hall sensor, as stated in reports.

The tablet runs in its exclusive and latest operating system (OS) Sailfish, but the device can still run Android applications.

This decent Finnish design is now available for pre-order and those who contributed to Jolla's fundraising campaign should know that the shipment for pre-orders will start by September for all EU nations, as well as in Switzerland, Norway, Canada, the United States, Russia, Australia, Hong Kong, and India.

Those who will pre-order now should expect the shipment by end of October, as stated in Jolla's official blog post.

As for the pricing, the post states that it will vary by country; although generally, the 32 GB model will be around $300, while the 64 GB model will cost about $336.
