Being a champion is not easy, and hearing about opponents wanting a piece of the champion and a shot at his belt is not that surprising.

But it looks like the case of Jon "Bones" Jones is different. The reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion may have successfully defended his crown against Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 in Las Vegas, but there seems to be an odd supporter waiting in the background — Alexander Gustaffson.

Seeing that Gustaffson wanted to see Jones win does sound a bit off; apparently, there was something more to it than support. As one would guess, Gustaffson wanted Jones to remain champ so that it could give him the chance for a rematch and a possible shot at Jones' title.

"Me personally, I want Jones to win, because I want to fight him," said Gustafsson at The MMA Hour. "If I want to take the belt from anyone, it would be Jones. Not DC," he added.

It was in September 2013 when Gustaffson and Jones faced off at UFC 165. Jones ended up taking a unanimous decision win over Gustaffson, although there were some who believed that the latter did do more damage and hence should have been the victor.

A rematch to settle the issue would have taken place at UFC 178 but Gustaffson injured his knee, allowing Cormier to take his place. That scheduled tiff never materialized since Jones incurred an injury as well.

Seeing the animosity between the two, their fight took center stage at UFC 182.

Now that the smoke has cleared, Gustaffson wants his rematch, and he made sure that Jones would see it when he shared on his official Facebook page what he thought of his rival's win.

Gustafsson wrote, "Jon 'Bones' Jones, I am not impressed by your performance!" 

So will it happen? Well, it would all depend on the outcome of Gustaffson's match at UFC on Fox 14 on Jan. 24, 2016 against Anthony Johnson. Chances are the winner will have a shot at Jones, and such could be something playing on Gustaffson's mind.
