Jose Aldo long served as Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion and one would normally think that he would be given a chance to redeem himself after that 13-second defeat at the hands of Conor McGregor.

The practice of granting a rematch normally follows but for some reason, it seems that the UFC is not looking in that direction. Instead, Frankie Edgar is being mentioned as the one getting an immediate rematch with "Scarface."

Such seems to be the case in the video of the interview with UFC President Dana White below.

So why is White and the UFC treating it this way?

One is for revenue purposes, of course. Although it remains to be seen if an Aldo vs. McGregor II would draw interest, the fact remains that the UFC is more inclined on what sells.

Second is that Aldo hasn't exactly been the loyalist who adheres to what the UFC wants so why risk losing the title with a rematch and cease control over the title?

Pathetic as some may think, such is the reality these days instead of usual principles. There are some like Jon Jones who feel that Aldo deserves a rematch, reported MMAMania.com.

"Bones" cites the case of Ronda Rousey who was given an immediate rematch with Holly Holm at UFC 200 which will happen in mid-2016.

So is White playing favorites? Well, such seems to be the case. But one has to also consider that the way Aldo lost does seem to affect the interest of a second meeting between the two.

It wasn't a lucky punch and in fact Aldo was a favorite due to his experience and long tenure. So while he did hold the belt for so long, right now, it looks like he may have to take the long road back to it if White stands pat on the plans he stated in the video above.
