Joseph Musical Prepares to 'Grease' Up

The BBC has recently extended popular talent show Any Dream Will Do by a week so that the final will be aired the same night as that of ITV's Grease Is The Word.

Any Dream Will Do, which is searching for a lead to star in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, was meant to end on 2 June, but will now run until the following Saturday.

Rival production Grease Is The Word is searching for a new Sandy and Danny to star in a West End production of Grease.

Simon Cowell, whose company Syco makes the ITV show with Talkback Thames, has revealed it is not going as well as he had hoped.

"It has been slaughtered by the critics and rightly so. It is far too similar to our other formats," he told Broadcast magazine.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is slated to open in London at the Adelphi Theatre on Tuesday 17 July, following previews from 6 July.

This musical is based on the biblical story of Joseph and his uncanny abilities, favouritism, family rivalry and temptation. Targeting an old and young audience alike, the show will feature hit songs like "Close Every Door" and "Any Dream Will Do".

Evening performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will show at the Adelphi Theatre at 7.30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays - Saturdays, 7.00pm on Tuesdays.
