Joseph Story to Hit West End

|PIC1|A new production of the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will open in London at the Adelphi Theatre next month.

Lee Mead will star as Joseph, after being voted the public's favourite on BBC1's Joseph: Any Dream Will Do.

Mead has previously performed professionally in musicals including The Phantom Of The Opera, Tommy and Miss Saigon, as well as dancing in a Geri Halliwell video.

He believes that he would be a "strong, sensitive, cheeky and deep Joseph".

Following previews from 6 July, the musical will begin playing 17 July.

With lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the new staging of the record-breaking 1990's London Palladium production, which was directed by Steven Pimlott, will, once again, be designed by Mark Thompson and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast, according to Peter Thompson Associates.

The lighting design will be by Andrew Bridge, sound design by Mick Potter, musical supervision by Simon Lee and associate direction and choreography by Nichola Treherne.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a colourful retelling of the biblical story of Joseph and his uncanny abilities, favouritism, family rivalry, and temptation.
