'Jurassic World 2' spoilers: T-Rex and Spinosaurus rematch to happen?

Jurassic World sequel release date Twitter/Jurassic World

"Jurassic World 2" won't be released until two and a half years from now but there are already a lot of talks about what the movie will be about. Colin Trevorrow, who directed the first blockbuster film, is more than glad to accept suggestions from fans.

A Facebook group was made as the outlet for fans to petition a rematch between the notorious Spinosaurus against the franchise's staple and fan-favorite T-Rex, which met its unexpected defeat in the hands of the now-considered new king in "Jurassic Park 3."

"You never saw any fans asking for a T-Rex to lose a fight a mutant, only to be saved by a raptor and a mosasaurus," the petitioners wrote. "Much less 'solve' the issue by having a T-Rex smash a Spino skeleton... Very unsatisfying," they added, hoping that "Jurassic World 2" will turn things around.

The group has been working on being heard by Trevorrow ever since and at last, the director has responded. When he was asked on Twitter to consider the petition in making the highly-anticipated sequel, the director responded, "Noted, my friend."

While this does not guarantee that the long-demanded and most-awaited rematch will take place in "Jurassic World 2," Trevorrow's response proves that there is actually a possibility that fans will witness the second part of the T-Rex vs. Spinosaurus, possibly with a new winner in the end.

Meanwhile, the upcoming film may not only bring the iconic T-Rex back but also some of the characters from the original films. It is being said that Laura Dern and Sam Neill, who are known for playing Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Alan Grant, respectively, will be joining the ensemble.

The rumors about the comeback of the characters were fuelled after the official "Jurassic World" Twitter account hinted that it can also bring original characters to the new films, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" style.

Whether or not this will indeed happen, fans will find out as the June 22, 2018 release of "Jurassic World" in the U.S. (June 7, 2018 in the U.K.) draws near.
