After seeing the dinosaurs as a theme park attraction in the 2015 blockbuster hit "Jurassic World," film director Colin Trevorrow teased that humans will start interacting with the gigantic creatures within close proximity in "Jurassic World 2."

In an interview with Wired UK, the director and co-writer of the first film revealed that the dinosaurs will no longer stay in just one island.

"[It will not be] just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island. That'll get old real fast," Trevorrow explained. "I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment."

This led to speculations that the supposedly extinct creatures could be seen roaming around a highly urbanized place in the sequel.

At the end of the first "Jurassic World" film, Dr. Henry Wu (B.D. Wong) escaped the island with several hybrid embryos in tow. This could mean that the geneticist managed to develop new species of dinosaurs that can peacefully live with the humans, and even act as their pets.

At one point in the film, Dr. Wu even warned Jurassic World owner Simon Masrani (Irrfan Khan) that they are not the only people who are capable of creating dinosaurs. This could be a clue that the franchise would be leaning towards a bigger universe for the dinosaurs to explore.

Trevorrow also confirmed that he will no longer direct the upcoming sequel, but he will continue working on the film's script with co-writer Derek Connolly.

Meanwhile, "The Orphanage" director Juan Antonio Bayona will take over Trevorrow's director's chair for the upcoming sequel. The movie will star Chris Pratt as Owen Grady, Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing, and Ty Simpkins as Grey Mitchell. The sequel is set to be released on June 22, 2018.
