Jeff Goldblum has already begun to shoot his scenes for "Jurassic World 2," in which he will be reprising his character, Dr. Ian Malcolm, who appeared in "Jurassic Park" and "The Lost World: Jurassic Park."

Prior to heading to London to shoot his scenes, Goldblum talked about his character in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. He admitted he liked Ian Malcolm, saying, "I think my character is a saucy, sassy man of some integrity and deep thinking."

He also admitted that the film is made largely to entertain, it will also explore some deeper concepts as the story unfolds. He said, "Even though some might say it's popcorn-y entertainment (top-notch, of course), in our conversation, [J.A. Bayona] was very focused on the serious issues of greed as it oftentimes comes up in those movies, and the marvels of science and reason and the very fascinating point at which our species finds itself both in real life and in this imaginary world too."

According to Screen Rant, given that Goldblum will only be following the rest of the cast to London as they have already begun filming before he got on board, he may have fewer scenes compared to the number of appearances he made in "Jurassic Park" and "The Lost World: Jurassic Park."

Dr. Malcolm is a mathematician and chaos theorist whose predictions often turned out to be accurate. He became the lead character of "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" after he played a supporting role in the first movie.

Although some expressed their worry that Goldblum will be playing a different role, executive producer and writer Colin Trevorrow put their minds at ease when he uploaded a photo on Twitter of a chair with the name "Ian Malcolm" written on it.

"Jurassic World 2" will be released on June 22, 2018. It will continue the story of the previous film, which saw dinosaurs being weaponized.
