Aside from being recognized as the highest-grossing film this year, "Jurassic World" also received a Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble this year. But fans are already looking forward to know more details about the film's upcoming sequel.

Ever since film director Colin Trevorrow confirmed that a series of sequels has been planned even before the release of "Jurassic World" in June 2015, fans of the sci-fi film are waiting to get more information about "Jurassic World 2."

However, Trevorrow also announced that he will no longer return for the sequels as director to concentrate on the production part of the movie. In his earlier interviews, the director claimed that having different filmmakers in the future installments of the "Jurassic Park" series could result in different qualities for the next films.

The filmmaker also told Wired that the plot for the upcoming sequels will not be limited to the events that happened on Isla Nubla or the theme park like the previous films.

"I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment," the filmmaker said. "And when you look back at nuclear power and how that started, the first instinct was to weaponise it and later on we found it could be used for energy."

Meanwhile, the cast of the upcoming "Jurassic World 2" will be reportedly led by Bryce Dallas Howard's character Claire Dearing. The operations manager of the fictional Jurassic World theme park will help Chris Pratt's character Owen Grady deal with the vicious surviving dinosaurs roaming the Earth.

Another confirmed cast member who will reprise his role in the film is Nick Robinson as Claire's nephew Zach.

"Jurassic World 2" is slated to start filming in 2017, and it will be released on June 22, 2018.
